What you'll need
An OpenAI key
A one-time setup, about two minutes — the app walks you through it on first launch. This is what powers the conversations, and it's why the app itself is free: you pay OpenAI directly, at cost.
- 1 Sign in at platform.openai.com (or create an account).
- 2 Add credits in Billing required $5 goes a long way — this is prepaid, so keys don't work without it.
- 3 Create a secret key on the API keys page. Copy it right away — OpenAI shows it only once.
- 4 Paste it into the app and you're in. 🎉 Stored only on your Mac, in the app's local settings — never sent anywhere but OpenAI.
